The Age of Technology

Technology in a healthcare setting is becoming paramount as time prevails. Whilst some hospitals are still relying on ageing communication methods, most are coming to terms with the fact that technology can dramatically increase work flows in their facilities and are actively seeking more information.

One avenue for this information is the Australian Healthcare Week which was held at the Australian Technology Park in Sydney this week. This event consisted of 3 separate conferences:

  • Healthcare Efficiency through Technology
  • Health Facilities Design & Development
  • Retrofitting Healthcare Facilities

Myself and three colleagues attended this conference, bumping into familiar faces from Southern Health, Barwon Health and WA Country Health Service to name a few. Case studies were presented regarding the New Bendigo Hospital Project and a representative from Ramsay Healthcare took us through the benefits of digitizing hospital processes.

Delegates came from all over Australia and from conversations held over the 3-day event, none were left disappointed. With an air of enthusiasm, delegates listened as exhibitors demonstrated the applications of their technology in a hospital setting.

i62 WiFi Handset & d81 DECT Handset
Integrated Wireless (IW) attracted welcomed attention for those interested in mobile duress, wide-area duress and WiFi tracking devices. The most intrigue surrounded IW's ability to converge location-based duress, paging and voice in the one handset as well as receiving nursecall/fire panel/access control alerts. Members of our sales team will be out at a number of facilities next week giving a live demonstration on how our products can best be used in specific hospital arenas.
